Why Did I Decide to Run?

Question 1: What motivates you to run for city council

The short answer: With my entire career as a Certified Public Accountant and Senior Partner with Deloitte & Touche, my skillsets will provide leadership to Clyde Hill in key areas that I highlight below. Additional motivation stems from my determination to ensure Clyde Hill remains a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

The details: After attending a few meetings of the Council and getting to better understand the dynamics of City Hall, I observed there were a number of matters that needed improvement. Specifically, our City is running a financial deficit, there is inconsistency and micro-management of residents for inconsequential matters, and there has been a lack of proactive effort on the land use zoning topic from Olympia that will allow multiple houses on one lot; this threatens the very fabric of Clyde Hill.

In summary, I concluded the City Council and City Administration could benefit from my:

  • Financial expertise and project management experience
  • Experience in dealing with government entities and regulators
  • Knowledge about when to use and selecting outside consultants
  • Reliable track record of working with all types of personalities in a productive manner
  • Freedom from any conflicts of interests
  • Commitment to invest substantial time

My background has provided me with these skillsets, and my aim is to provide leadership at City Hall, including focusing on items that matter, emphasizing safety for all residents, and doing the right things to ensure the historical values that have served Clyde Hill residents so well over the decades are retained.
