Today, I noted on Nextdoor some discussion about an email a Clyde Hill resident sent to each candidate. The resident (Brad) asked some pretty good questions, and I responded with detailed answers. It was a simple request to gather information from each candidate; in fact I have responded to many such emails over the last week. And anyone can forward my emails / information to anyone they want – I don’t have secrets and in fact it is good to share the information. In any event, Brad forwards the responses he received to a group of his friends – each statement from the candidate was attached via a PDF file. And, the document I provided to Brad matches the one he sent out – so all is good.

However, in the Nextdoor post, there is a Clyde Hill resident that states they received an email from Ashley Eckel, and Eckel is stating that “…that a resident-blog yesterday posted outright lies/inaccuracies/heavily edited emails. It was completely predictable. Unfortunately, those behind it edited and deleted the parts where I actually discussed important topics (like storm water, our budget, and city code)…”

If I am reading that correctly, that is a very big assertion. Thankfully, someone asked Ashley via NextDoor post to produce the evidence of her assertion. But the response thus far is to “call Ashley” – in my experience receipts that back up assertions are important. Like I said, maybe I’m not reading something right here, but I’m super confident Brad handled the other responses just like mine (with absolute integrity).
