The Perks of Being a Candidate

As some of you might know, I’m running for City Council because I believe that some improvements are needed, and the City will benefit from my professional background and since I’m recently retired, I can invest the necessary time to provide leadership, especially on financial matters and thinking through the notion of a Stormwater Utility. As I walk the streets of Clyde Hill, meeting and talking with folks, I realized there are some perks to running.

I’m getting to know people pretty well and engaging in a meaningful dialog. I’ve met some really cool dogs and cats, too – although I did steer clear of that Coyote next to the 520 on-ramp off the 520….I’m better appreciating the beauty of our City, north/south/east/west. I’m getting a great workout for my legs. I’m learning some new things. And lots more too.

Guess what – the people of Clyde Hill are fantastic – super approachable, super articulate, super caring. This affirms my observation the residents want (need) a City Hall where we are rowing in the same and right direction – no room for negativity or double dealing. A place where we have respectful dialog, and when decisions are made we move ahead.
